Περί-feria
The work of artists from different ethnic backgrounds offers the viewers the opportunity to rethink / reconsider the concept of "center-periphery", its relation with contemporary culture and the globalized reality of both. Here, Greece as the cradle of western civilization, appears and functions as the center relating to the periphery, ie. to the Latin American countries.
The audience is invited to question the ways in which this mentality of "center-periphery" has been imposed by Western European culture and how their daily reality opposes and contradicts that same mentality. The visitor is also invited to approach in different ways the concept of Latin American identity as compared to the Greek one and to Greek culture and, finally to reconsider the ideas of "local" vs. "global".

Το έργο καλλιτεχνών διαφορετικών εθνικοτήτων (καταγωγών) προσφέρει στο κοινό ερεθίσματα, ώστε να αναθεωρήσει την έννοια «κέντρο-περιφέρεια», τη σχέση αυτής με τον σύγχρονο πολιτισμό και την παγκοσμιοποιημένη πραγματικότητα αμφοτέρων. Εδώ η Ελλάδα, σαν λίκνο του δυτικού πολιτισμού, παρουσιάζεται και λειτουργεί ως εκείνο το κέντρο που σχετίζεται με την περιφέρεια, με τις λατινοαμερικάνικες χώρες δηλαδή.
Το κοινό καλείται να προβληματιστεί σχετικά με τον τρόπο που επεβλήθη, από τον δυτικοευρωπαϊκό κόσμο, η λογική «κέντρο-περιφέρεια» και με τον τρόπο που η σημερινή τους πραγματικότητα σπάει την ίδια αυτήν λογική. Επίσης, καλείται να προσεγγίσει με διαφορετικό τρόπο την έννοια της λατινοαμερικάνικης ταυτότητας έναντι της ελληνικής και έναντι του ελληνικού πολιτισμού και να επανεξετάσει, τέλος, τις έννοιες «τοπικό» και «παγκόσμιο».

Las obras de artistas de diversas nacionalidades ofrecen al espectador reflexiones sobre el concepto "centro-periferia" y sus relaciones con los nuevos escenarios de la cultural global, visto desde una plataforma en la que Grecia, como cuna de la cultura occidental, funge como centro y se relaciona con los países latinoamericanos, e invitan al espectador a reflexionar sobre el rompimiento de la lógica del centro y la periferia establecidas por el mundo europeo occidental, a dialogar sobre la identidad latinoamericana frente a la cultura griega y a repensar lo propio y lo ajeno.
